Referral Guidelines

Sussex Community Dermatology Service provides a wide range of community and acute NHS Dermatology services across Sussex, Surrey, and Kent. Referrals into the service can be made by any NHS healthcare professional, but must adhere to the referral guidelines we have agreed with local Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). Common Exclusions

• Leg ulcers
• Botulinium toxin injections for non-axillary hyperhidrosis
• Cosmetic skin lesions or problems
• Transport – if the patient is travelling by NHS Patient Transport, please ask the patient to contact us prior to contacting the transport service to ensure the time and date is suitable.
• Stretchers and hoists – due to the outpatient settings, we do not have the facilities to accommodate patients on stretchers or those requiring hoists.
• General anaesthetic – we cannot accept referrals for patients requiring general anaesthetic for surgery as we do not have access to inpatient facilities.
